We are very happy that we made the decision to enroll our son Luke in classes at Tae Kwon Do USA. Grand Master and Master Song are great teachers and are serious about what they do.

Douglasville, Georgia Tae Kwon Do School
Taekwondo USA is owned and operated by Grand Master Song and his wife Master Song.
Grand Master Song
Grand Master Ji Young Song, 9th dan Taekwondo, 7th dan Hapkido, has spent nearly his entire life as a student and teacher of martial arts. Grand Master Song was born in South Korea and began studying Chung Do Kwan in the late 1950’s. He continued studying and training through elementary, middle, and high school as well as in university. While still in Korea, Grand Master Song was the Chief Instructor in the Korean Army and also was a former coach of the Children’s National Korean Demo Team.
Grand Master Song came to the United States in early 1980’s and has trained US Secret Service, US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines as well as personal body guards.
Grand Master Song is one of the most respected Korean Taekwondo masters for his ability and his reputation as a World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) international referee and judge. He has won many awards and accolades from WTF, CDK, as well as awards from the governors of FL and TX.
Grand Master Song was the 1994 USA National Taekwondo Team Manager and has hosted many championship tournaments for US Senior Nationals and Juniors competitions. He has been the director and organizer of tournaments such as the American Open Taekwondo Tournament for the past 13 years and also the Ft. Lauderdale Open Taekwondo Tournament from 1980 – 1988. Quite a few national champions, both juniors and seniors have trained under Grand Master Song. A number of his students have become masters and have gone on to open their own school.
In his own words, “I continue to train myself and continue to also learn from my students. I try to learn as much as I can as we are all students of life. Taekwondo is not just physical training. I also teach a lot of mental discipline, history and the philosophy of Taekwondo. My hope for my students is for each individual to lead physically and mentally healthy lifestyles and to live peacefully with respect for others. I teach my students to not only work hard to become Taekwondo champions, but to become champions of their own life…to be humble, grateful, helpful, and to have physical and mental control.”
Master Song
Master Song, 5th dan Taekwondo, began training and studying Taekwondo in 1970. She also holds Black Belt rank in Shorin Ryu. While in Korea, Master Song became the Korean high school champion which was extremely rare for women at that time. She came to the USA as a student in 1974.
Master Song is proficient and has extensive experience with martial arts weapons such as the bo staff, tonfa, sword, psi, and nunchaku. At the All American Open Tournament in the early 1980’s she won Grand Champion for Weapons and Forms.
Master Song enjoys providing excellent training for juniors and women’s self defense.
In her own words, “I think that respect for yourself and others is most important. I like to teach and see the younger generation to show respect and see that they will get respect in return. I also would like to see youngsters have confidence and show good leadership and share with them respect, honor and teach the “Taekwondo Aims to Achieve” for life. One of my goals, is through Taekwondo training and philosophy, to prevent youngsters from getting into any trouble.”
